Digital Brinell Hardness Tester Daily Maintenance and Upkeep
The Brinell hardness tester is a cutting-edge device that integrates mechanical engineering, an LCD display, and advanced electronic circuitry. Like other precision industrial instruments, its performance can be fully realized—and its service life extended—only with careful maintenance and proper care. Below, we outline four key aspects of routine maintenance and upkeep.
1. Pay attention to “gentle handling”
When moving a digital Brinell hardness tester, handle it with care and ensure the outer packaging provides adequate shock protection. Most Brinell hardness testers are equipped with LCD panels; severe impacts, crushing, or vibrations can cause the LCD to shift, disrupting image alignment during projection and resulting in misalignment of the RGB color channels. Additionally, these instruments feature highly precise optical components; vibration may lead to displacement or damage of lenses and mirrors within the optical system, compromising imaging performance. Furthermore, ultra-wide‑angle lenses may become jammed or even crack under such conditions.
II. Pay Attention to the “Usage Scenario”
Maintaining cleanliness in the operating environment is a standard requirement for all high-precision electronic devices, and digital Brinell hardness testers are no exception; moreover, their environmental requirements are somewhat more stringent than those of comparable products.
We should place the digital Brinell hardness tester in a dry, clean environment, avoiding humid conditions, and ensure adequate natural ventilation (ideally in a smoke‑free area). Since the LCD panel of the Brinell hardness tester is relatively small yet boasts very high resolution, even the tiniest dust particles can affect the projected image quality. Moreover, these devices typically rely on specialized fans to provide airflow at rates of several tens of liters per minute for cooling; as high‑pressure air passes through the dust‑filter mesh, it may carry fine particulates. These particles can generate static electricity through friction and adhere to the heat‑dissipation components, degrading the display quality. At the same time, excessive dust can impede the fan’s rotation, leading to overheating. Therefore, it is essential to regularly clean the dust‑filter mesh at the air intake. Because the LCD panel is highly sensitive to temperature, while ensuring protection against water and contamination, care must also be taken to keep the operating Brinell hardness tester away from heat sources to prevent damage to the LCD.
III. Please Note “Application Matters”
1. Pay attention to the rated values of the power supply current, as well as the grounding wire and the positive and negative terminals of the digital Brinell hardness tester, and ensure that the grounding system is properly installed. In particular, when the Brinell hardness tester is connected to a video signal source—such as a computer—and different power supplies are used, a relatively high potential difference may develop between the two neutral wires. If the user plugs or unpluges the power cord or other power connectors while the equipment is energized, arcing may occur at the connector interface, damaging the data‑signal input circuitry and potentially leading to failure of the Brinell hardness tester.
2. During operation, the digital Brinell hardness tester should not be frequently switched on and off, as this may damage internal components and reduce the service life of the lamp.
3. The refresh rate of the input source should not be too high. Although a higher refresh rate for the video signal generally improves image clarity, when using a digital display Brinell hardness tester, you must also take into account the refresh rate of the connected computer monitor. If the two are mismatched, the data signal may fail to synchronize, resulting in no display. This is why videos that play normally on a computer often cannot be displayed through the Brinell hardness tester.
